R.A. Industries, LLC Conflict Minerals Policy
Anti-Government forces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) fund their insurgency campaigns through control of mines and transport corridors of “Conflict Minerals”, and have historically been flagrant human rights violators. These “Conflict Minerals” are Columbite-Tantalite (colloquially known as Coltan), Cassiterite, Wolframite, and Gold, and are respectively refined into the well-known metals Tantalum, Tin, Tungsten, and Gold, collectively referred to as 3TG. In order to minimize the damage from the use of 3TGs the United States Congress added a provision to the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Law of 2010 which requires that publicly traded companies must disclose any 3TGs contained in the products they manufacture, or contract to manufacture. If the products they manufacture do contain 3TGs, these companies must do due diligence to determine if said 3TGs originated in the DRC or adjoining countries, and, if so, whether these 3TGs directly or indirectly financed armed conflict in the DRC. This requirement “flows down” the supply chain, and companies are also responsible for the 3TGs obtained from their suppliers.
RA Industries, LLC is committed to being a conscientious global citizen and ensuring that it conducts business in a responsible, ethical, and sustainable matter. Products produced by RA Industries, LLC do contain “Conflict Minerals” and RA Industries, LLC has done its due diligence to ensure that the company only obtains raw materials sourced from smelters that do not directly or indirectly finance conflict in the DRC, and, therefore, are “DRC Conflict Free”, as defined by the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Law of 2010. RA Industries, LLC also only deals with suppliers and subcontractors that likewise do not directly or indirectly finance armed conflict in the DRC, and are, therefore, also “DRC Conflict Free”.
R.A. Industries, LLC, therefore certifies that, as of January 2014, its products are “DRC Conflict Free”.
